Category: Comparisons
Compare the Soft Lion and Colorful Butterfly 150-piece wooden puzzles on shape, price, and beginner appeal to pick the right small animal puzzle gift.
Quick answer
Choose the Soft Lion 150 Wooden Puzzle if you want a warm, recognizable animal face and the lowest catalog price; choose the Colorful Butterfly 150 Wooden Puzzle if a bright rainbow silhouette and a slightly higher spend feel more gift-worthy. Both are shaped 150-piece puzzles, so the real decision is motif and budget, not difficulty.
Shape and motif change the gifting message
The Soft Lion is built around a lion’s head with a mane rendered in soft and bold rainbow hues, which reads as cozy and familiar. The Colorful Butterfly uses a delicate butterfly silhouette filled with vibrant rainbow colors, which reads as decorative and lighter. For a beginner, a recognizable face can make the finished puzzle easier to place mentally, while a symmetrical butterfly can feel more like a display object than a character.
Price difference is small but real
At catalog prices, the Soft Lion is USD 13.33 and the Colorful Butterfly is USD 13.53, both compared with a USD 19.90 reference price. The gap is only twenty cents, so do not let price alone decide unless you are buying several gifts and need to keep a strict per-item total. The more meaningful trade-off is whether you prefer the lion’s animal-face theme or the butterfly’s rainbow silhouette.
Where the comparison stops
The supplied catalog does not list piece thickness, age grading, finished dimensions, or packaging details for either puzzle. Treat those as unknowns rather than assuming one is more durable or more suitable for a specific age. If a recipient needs a verified age recommendation or a known finished size, ask the store before ordering instead of inferring from the 150-piece count.
Trade-offs to weigh before you buy
- Motif: familiar face vs decorative silhouette: Pick the Soft Lion when the recipient likes animals and a cozy, recognizable image; pick the Colorful Butterfly when the gift should feel bright and ornamental. Match the motif to the recipient’s taste, not to the piece count, because both puzzles have 150 pieces.
- Budget: lowest price vs slightly higher price: The Soft Lion is USD 13.33 and the Colorful Butterfly is USD 13.53 at catalog prices, so the lion saves a small amount per gift. For multiple gifts, the lion keeps the per-item cost lowest; for a single gift, the twenty-cent difference is unlikely to matter.
- Beginner fit: visual anchor vs open pattern: A lion’s face gives a beginner a clear center and edge to work toward, while the butterfly’s rainbow pattern may suit someone who prefers color matching over facial features. If the recipient is new to shaped puzzles, choose the lion for its recognizable structure; choose the butterfly for a color-led build.
